Protect Yourself With Enough Uninsured and Underinsured Insurance Coverage Before You are in an Accident!
The hardest thing I have to do in any case is look a client in the eye and say "the driver who caused your accident does not have enough insurance or has no insurance to cover your medical bills, lost wages and injuries." I know that when that happens, the client can end up going through a lot of financial hardship through no fault of their own. With a little planning, however, you can protect themselves from this situation.
Many people assume that if they are hurt in an accident, the other driver's insurance company will cover all their injuries, medical bills and lost wages. In North Carolina, though, a driver has to buy only $30,000.00 of liability insurance to get their vehicle on the road. Unfortunately, many clients are seriously hurt in accidents and $30,000.00 is not nearly enough to pay for their medical bills, lost wages and injuries. There are also a lot of people driving around with no insurance at all.
You can protect yourself from these situations ahead of time by having enough uninsured and underinsured insurance coverage as part of your own motorcycle insurance policy. Uninsured coverage protects you when the person causing your accident has no insurance at all. Underinsured coverage protects you when the person causing your accident has too little insurance to cover how badly you have been hurt.
You may be thinking, "why should my insurance pay if I am not at fault?" Your insurance pays because you cannot control how much, if any, insurance coverage another person has. Also, your insurance company offers this type of insurance as protection for you because they know that there are a lot of drivers out there with very little or no insurance.
I am not an insurance salesman, and probably like you, I hate shelling out money for insurance when I hope I never have to use it. Individuals, though, need good uninsured and underinsured coverage to protect them from those drivers out there who have little or no coverage. The good news is that this insurance does not cost very much. You can generally get a lot of uninsured and underinsured coverage (and you need both) for less than $9 per month.
I am more than happy to discuss your insurance coverage with you to see if you are protected. Any discussion we have about your insurance coverage is confidential and free.
